The opposition has suffered a blow from the opposition as the countrys lays touches for a seamless election exercise.

The Indipendent Electoral and boundaries Commision (IEBC) has declined to carry out one of the proposals that CORD was banking on- to have a fresh voter's register.
On Friday, Occtober 28, IEBC in a presser, said that it would be using the same register and declined CORD's earlier request to have it done afresh.

CORD' concerns were that the register was compromised and was marred with irregularities that would give the Jubilee Party an upper hand in 2017.
Previously, CORD fought to have a new electoral body to make sure that the election results were not cooked.
Police were engaged in running battles with Cord protesters after they held a demonstration and a sit-in outside the IEBC office in Nairobi on Monday, May 9.
Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse Cord leaders and their followers.
Several people were injured in the skirmishes between the police and demonstrators including a woman and a journalist.

CORD wanted the IEBC to reconstituted ahead of the elections saying that it had lost faith in the electoral body's ability to conduct a fair election.
